Intern/ junior-Architect
JOB DESCRIPTION
In this position you are intensively involved in the design process and research on both urban and architectural projects, which requires a drive for innovative and experimental design methods. You are part of a team that produces high quality models, prototypes and drawings and is involved in the preparation of exhibitions and presentation material. There is a requirement to be self-motivated, pro-active and you should be able to work as part of an effective team, but you should also work strong independently. A strong graphic and design talent and strong model-making skills are desirable.
The intern will develop graphic and written conceptual design solutions on a project, for the client's approval, within the functioning of a stimulating team-based, conceptual design environment. We divide the internship into four fazes, the length of each phase is not pre-determined:
1. Introduce current projects, acquaint intern with daily office activities and familiarize intern with our design and working methods through a process of learning while experiencing. This will be the starting point to determine further development during the internship. There will be a supervisor nearby to assist intern at all times if need be.
2. To use information and data collection techniques to organize and evaluate program data. Translate the client's requirements for a project into written, numerical, and graphic forms within the boundaries of the design team's guidelines.
3. Within the design team, identify the qualitative and quantitative requirements for the project, develop questions and investigate and document the work process for a particular user. Analyze client supplied data and document programmatic implications.
4. The ability to provide a coherent, logical, and well-designed design proposal for a specific program. By now the intern will be able to integrate elements that influence the specific design and to justify the proposal based upon their research.
TASKS
• Be self-motivated, pro-active and able to work as a part of an effective team. But you should also work strong independently.
• Provide graphic and written conceptual design solutions within the functioning of a stimulating, team-based, conceptual design environment.
• Produce high quality models, prototypes and design drawings, also related to the preparation of exhibitions and presentation material.
